At QCCN, it’s important to us to help an older person stay in their own home longer. Homeshare enables this by matching socially isolated elderly homeowners with people who are looking for subsidised housing. As part of the arrangement, the person also needs to provide 10-12 hours of work a week and keep the elderly homeowner company.
It’s a great way for people to connect, help each other and create friendships. If you know an older homeowner or someone who would benefit from the Homeshare program, email Queensland Community Care Network at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 3040 0287.
Homeshare is just one of our programs that aim to minimise social isolation. We’re continually working with Governments and funding bodies to improve our programs and address the issues and needs of the elderly, disabled and disadvantaged.
